MOORABOOL COMMUNITIES IN ACTION
Councillor s to identify what they value in their community.
All par ticipants had the oppor tunity to represent what
they felt their District's existing strengths are , and what
they would like to see happen in the future , referencing
such priorities as their community, recreation and spor ting
facilities, the economic management of their area,
development, and the natur al environment.
All potential projects were openly discussed between
communities, a nd the feedback and input from all
attendees flowed enthusiastically and positively. Council is
committed to working with each community committed
to suppor ting, and promoting their area. At this stage , and
from the assistance of par ticipants at the last Advisor y
Committee meeting, MCiA has been a hive of activity, with
communities all over the Shire putting their collective
thinking caps on to come up with fresh, innovative ideas to
improve their area.
There is no need to fret if you notice your community is
yet to be involved. Council is dedicated to including the
whole of the Shire , so please feel free to contact the MCiA
Facilitator at any time with your ideas.
An Infor mation and Training Daywas held at the Ballan
Shire offices in late March to update community member s
of the role of the depar tments, and shire officer s involved.
The day included presentations from a variety of speaker s
on how communities could clearly discuss their priorities
with each other, with staff, and infor med member s about
who's who, who's involved, and where we're heading.
Moorabool Communities in Action invites ally interested
community member s to all upcoming district gatherings
that will be held throughout the year in your area.
Empowering the communities within our Shire is
encouraging a level of engagement envisioned when the
Community Action Localities were fir st identified and
created, and we are now onto the second phase of our s,
and your, project. A big welcome to our four new
Community Action Networks: Greendale & Dales Creek,
Ballan and District, Balliang and District, Bungaree and
District and all incorpor ated towns.
At this stage in MCiA's development, some of the feedback
from community member s has discussed positively the
project's energy, direction, focus and commitment. In
addition, community member s have offered valuable input
to Shire officer s on how best to assist our Community
Action Networks communicate with each other,
communicate with Council, and streamline projects, so
they are manageable , and realised. Utilising, and generating
a sense of connection and belonging while protecting and
nur turing the uniqueness and individuality of each town is
MCiA's purpose , and our Networks, member s, and MCiA
staff are excited by what can be achieved.
