COUNCIL DELIGHT IN FEDERAL
BUDGET -- ANTHONY'S CUTTING
The recent Federal Budget confirmation of the Commonwealth's
contribution to realign Anthony's Cutting will see multiple
benefits for road user s and the Moorabool community.
Work on the $200 million project is due to star t this year and is
expected to be completed in early 2012.
It has been one of the most eagerly awaited announcements in
the Shire and will be a relief for all the users of this stretch of
road as it will dramatically improve safety.
By effectively bypassing Anthony's Cutting, it will eliminate the
need for speed restrictions and reduce travelling time and
transpor t costs.
Council would like to make special mention of the effor ts of the
Federal Member for Ballarat Catherine King in lobbying for the
work to be done.
The work will improve access to Bacchus Mar sh and Moorabool
Shire and a flow-on effect will be that more people will find
Moorabool Shire an attractive place to visit and live.
