BRIDGES AND BANKS
COMMUNITY BANKS UPDATE
More than $300,000 was raised at the Prospectus Launch for the
Ballan & District Community Bank® branch, at the prospectus
launch on May 4.
Around 130 local residents and traders gathered to get the first
look at the prospectus for the local community based company
established to run the banking franchise, and many made the
most of the opportunity to buy a total of 301,000 x $1 shares in
the recently registered public company ‘Moorabool Community
Enterprises Ltd’, which was formed to purchase the franchise from
the Bendigo Bank.
Moorabool Community Enterprises Limited Chairman Robert
Eskdale described this initial response as better than expected
and he was confident the community would reach the $675,000
minimum share sales target sooner rather than later. Local
Directors and the Bendigo Bank are working to secure premises
at the IGA complex in Ballan.
If you have any questions about the share offer, or indeed the
Community Bank® concept and how it will benefit the community,
or wish to receive a prospectus; please contact Jennifer Hudson
on 0497 507 657 and Anthony Dufty on 0402 894 576.
PLEDGE $500 FOR BACCHUS MARSH
The Bacchus Marsh campaign for a Community Bank® branch has
made a strong start with more than $370,000 in pledges.
Bendigo Bank Community Development Manager, Jodie Giles
said this was a fantastic start to the Bacchus Marsh campaign,
and congratulated the committee members and those in the
community who have indicated their support.
Steering committee chairman Claire Sutherland has launched the
‘pledge $500’ campaign to encourage as many Mums and Dads,
clubs, school groups and the like to get involved.
Other Community Bank® branches have allocated their profits
towards student scholarships for local schools, improving junior
sporting and arts facilities, purchasing computers and other
equipment for schools and community groups.
Pledges can range in size from $500 through to $20,000.
To obtain a pledge form, or for more information on the campaign
for a Community Bank® branch for Bacchus Marsh, contact Claire
