Twenty-one Moorabool Community organisations successfully
sought funding in the summer round of the Community Grants
Program, announced in April. Moorabool Shire Council makes
$140,000 available in two rounds each year for three categories;
Community Strengthening, Events and The Arts.
Not-for-profit groups can apply for up to $5000 for community
strengthening grants or $3000 for events and arts grants, on the
basis that for projects of more than $1500 they can demonstrate
a cash or in-kind contribution of $1 for every $2 from Council.
Applicants must also meet certain criteria based on intended use,
community need, planned implementation and safety issues.
Council is proud to announce the successful applications in the
summer round of grants:
Bacchus Marsh Soccer Club; $1440 for the replacement of
a line marking machine.
Wallace Recreation Reserve Committee; $5000 to install a
gas heater and marine carpet.
Ballan Bowling Club; $5000 for the renovation of the
Bowling Club kitchen.
Bacchus Marsh Cricket Club; $5000 for the Maddingley Park
Balliang Public Hall and Recreation Reserve Committee;
$5000 for the east boundary fence project.
Friends of Maddingley Park; $1472 for the development of
a Heritage rose garden.
Ballan Recreation Reserve Committee; $5000 for the
children’s playground upgrade.
Ballan Men’s Shed; $4598 for the purchase and installation
of a thicknesser in the workshop.
Bacchus Marsh and Melton Poultry Club; $5000 for the
installation of solar panels.
Ballan Mechanics Institute and Free Library Committee;
$4000 for green room floor repair.
Mountain Movers Dance Group; $5000 for the Bungaree
Mechanics Institute kitchen upgrade, and
Bacchus Marsh Montessori Preschool; $2930 for a shade sail
to be built over play equipment.
The Events grants were approved for:
Blackwood Progress Association; $3000 toward the Easter
Carnival and Woodchop
Bacchus Marsh Tourism Association; $3000 for the
Strawberries and Cherries Weekend.
Bacchus Marsh Fire Brigade; $2000 for centenary celebrations
of the Bacchus Marsh Urban Fire Brigade, and
Pentland Hill Land Care Group; $3000 for the Myrniong and
District Landholders Expo.
In the Arts section, the successful applicants were;
Ballan and District Health Care; $3000 for the Ballan
Hospital Community Garden Art project
Ballan & District Art and Craft Society; $1500 for the
purchase of second-hand art stands
Bungal Arts Depot; $3000 for Art Links, and
Bacchus Marsh Community Unlimited; $3000 for Recycled
