Moorabool Shire Council manages the construction and
maintenance of many thousands of kilometres of sealed
and unsealed local roads and road assets including bridges,
footpaths and drainage.
The hierarchy of road asset categories, and corresponding
maintenance regimes and standards is outlined in Councils'
Road Management Plan.
Council will clear any pipes, pits, culverts or drains which
are blocked, with the exception of crossovers, where residents
are encouraged to undertake their own maintenance.
Construction and maintenance of crossovers are the
responsibility of the land owner. Before any driveways are
constructed, please contact Council's Assets Unit on
5366 7100 as certain conditions may apply and permits
may be required.
Council is responsible for the installation, cleaning, repairs
and relocation of road signs on all roads except for main
arterial roads which are the responsibility of VicRoads.
Council has a program of street sweeping which ranges
from daily sweeping to sweeping as required.
All urban areas are included on the program and rural
intersections are included where build up of debris occurs.
Your assistance in reporting any problems regarding the
issues listed above is appreciated. Please phone Customer
Service on 5366 7100.
Garbage and Recycling
Council provides a weekly garbage collection service in the
urban areas of the Shire - townships of Bacchus Marsh and
Ballan - and a fortnightly garbage collection to designated
rural areas and townships.
A kerbside recycling service is also provided on a fortnightly
basis throughout the serviced areas of the Shire. Only
Moorabool Shire recycling bins will be collected.
Garbage and recycling bins must be placed out for collection
prior to 6.00am. There should be a distance of at least one
metre between your garbage bin and recycling bin.
Any garbage or recycling bins that are overfull or too heavy
will not be collected. Residents should ensure that garbage
and recycling is not compacted into the bin so as to prevent
items from not emptying out.
For a comprehensive list of what is suitable for recycling go

and a 240 litre co-mingled mobile recycling bin that is
